Charles, thanks for one of the more thoughtful responses. It beats the personal attacks because someone disagrees, the name calling or the strictly anecdotal facts so many choose i.e. I use all of the time, I am a 4.0, here are 6 celebrities, etc.

Contrary to Sara (which I do not understand her entire argument) beliefs, scientific results are pretty clear that long term users (I hardly think Bill Clinton, George Bush or Barack Obama are considered long term users). It is well documented that marijuana impacts learning, concentration, memory, initiative, etc. These come from many sources, yet we are to dismiss these studies because we know "some" successful people that do it.

Marijuana is not free of issues and there is no qustion in my mind that long term usage impacts peoples ability to function at as high a level of non users. Nearly every study indicates this

Last Place On Earth is going to be jumping with business. Hurry and get all your water bongs, one-hitters, 1-3 chamber pipes, screens, cleaners, 60s day-glo posters, black lights and pick up a few pornos, a pair of nun-chucks, books on growing cannibis and an Ozzy Osbourne/Metallica/Iron Maiden refillable zippo lighter.

The main reason that it isn't legalized isn't so much related to health effects, pro or con; the government could never have total control over it if it was legalized.

Nor does it have to do with it being a gate-way drug; take responsibility for yourself and your own actions. Don't be weak-minded and so quick to place blame.

If I could grow my own tobacco and roll a cigarette that tastes like my favorite brand, I would. I don't think that the government would be too fond of me gathering and possessing all of the necessary added 'toxins' I would have to add to get that specific flavor.

The same goes for my favorite beer. Maybe with some practice I could brew the perfect batch. I think I'll just go to the liquor store and buy a twelve pack. Or, I could do like the masses, sit at a bar for several hours, drinking, and then drive home. Hmmmm.

Nah, I think I'll roll a joint and smoke it while I finish my homework. Did I mention that I am a 4.0 student in my last semester of college? Most people that are against it have never even tried it. I know many well-to-do people that smoke on a regular basis. These people are good citizens. I prefer not to hang around people that are not. That is my choice.

Anyone can grow a pot plant, without too much effort. You can put as much into it as you'd like. In the end, it will still get you high. The government is too afraid of this fact, so they want it to be illegal.

Go ahead, legalize it. Or whatever, keep it illegal. I'll keep smoking it either way.
