Duluth has been one of my favorite cities to visit for the last 10 years or so. I love the recreation opportunities it offers and the outdoor events up there. I don't mind spending my hard earned money in Duluth but the increase in crime is a big concern for future visits.

Attractions no, but things like parks, beaches, & hiking trails are all something I frequent summer or winter. I wouldn't waste money on the so called attractions around here though, they're a joke. Like that oversized fishbowl, why pay when I can see plenty of aquatic life by going fishing? But my idea of fun involves something outside, not standing inside a building I just over-paid to gain enterance to.

We moved here last fall and are delighted (especially now that summer's finally here!) with all the things to do in the area ... the best so far was an afternoon cruise on the Denis Sullivan!

Aaron J: Namecalling, wow how mature. I actually used Hartley for years w/o a membership, because it's a park and it's free. I purchased a membership because they have a lot of fun programming for kids and now that I have kids I want to utilize those programs at a lower rate. Also, I wouldn't tell you to move; a city needs all flavors. PS: There are many places I used to go as a kid, too that have changed, but that's the price you pay for living in a city.

Becky G., Funny you should mention a membership to Hartley. I too hung out at Hartley when I was young. No membership required. I used to take my various motorbikes down there and have a great time. I used to sit on top of those large rocks and warm myself on a cool day. Now you must have a membership. Just shows how Duluth has went down hill. Yes Hartley was a wonderful place at one time. Now that I have difficulty walking would they let me ride my ATV down there so I can take a look once more before I die. Duluth is now for the snobs/tourists at one end and the criminals at the other. BTW don't tell me to move. Why don't some of you snobs move so we can have our city back.

I love living in Duluth. We buy memberships to the Children's Museums and Hartley so we can visit all year 'round and enjoy the wealth of activities they provide. We use the parks, visit the lake and enjoy every minute of it. All the negatives are washed away as I will fall in love again and again with Duluth as I come down Thompson Hill and see the lake or the lights at night.

I've heard it said that Duluth isn't the end of the world, however you sure can see it from there.

I can not believe all the negative response.. If you are not happy living here move. Duluth is a wonderful place to live..It has sooo much to offer if you just look for it. Your lives would be so much better if you just had a positive outlook on life,. Make the best of what you have and stop complaining..If you want more than work harder...I will always live here and love it. If you think the grass is greener on the other side than go there...

Aaron J. I have lived in Duluth and loved it!! Loved the winter, the mild summers, walks by the lake, just couldn't find a teaching job! Unfortunately returned to the metro area where there are 400 people minimum per teaching job in a k -6 position. But I will continue to return to Duluth time and time again!!!
