I only wish the media could report the truth about the population of Duluth. Increase of 3 people, on what day? How many long time citizens have moved out to other areas due to the political and economic climate in Dululth? What would be the population had not we had an influx of former residents of Chicago, Detroit, Minneapolis, Milwakee, Mexico, and of course North Dakota?
Media, tell me more of the jobs that have been created to bring people into this city. Three people, what a shame, the birth rate is higher than that.

Duluth has too much old housing stock built on lots so close you can't put up a ladder to paint without trespassing. Take a look at 4th street around 27th Ave W. How about a neighborhood revitalization program, where the city buys 3 of those houses on 40 foot lots, tears them all down, and puts up one decent spec house like you'd see in Hermantown. Fix up the street and take out the alley so there'd be a decent back yard. Maybe they'd even get federal money for it. Make it look like a suburb. Decent people might move back into the city if the city became attractive.

Hello,
I work for the US Census. These ESTIMATES are done through a survey called the American Community Survey, they are only estimates! The decenial census will land in your mailbox mid-March 2010, these are much better figures once they are released.

You know, I was gonna make a statement, but, no way can I out-do the headline itself. Has anybody emailed this to a latenight show? There's a good joke here, just waiting for someone to acknowledge it.
