Unusual trip to the mall
We lived in Washington, D.C., last year when Nathan joined the Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist program at Washington National Opera. We were new to the area and he told me he was taking me to Bethesda, Md., where we would check out a mall he thought I might like. I simply thought, “Great! A Sunday afternoon of shopping with my boyfriend! That never happens!”
We ended up getting to the mall at 10 a.m. and not one store in the place opened until 11 a.m. We did about two laps around the building until he finally told me we were going to be shopping for my engagement ring. I started to cry in the middle of the mall when I realized he wanted to spend the rest of his life with me!
