Police arrested four people in Duluth last week for selling heroin, the latest in a series of heroin-related arrests in the city this month.
Duluth police reported that investigators from the department and from the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force arrested two suspects last Thursday at the close of an undercover operation conducted in the Piedmont Heights neighborhood.
Jesse Lee Muellner, 23, and Haley June Engstad, 23, both of Duluth, were arrested and charged in St. Louis County District Court with second-degree sale of a controlled substance. Muellner and Engstad have extensive criminal histories in St. Louis and Carlton counties, police said, and are on probation.
Last Friday, Duluth police, the drug task force, the Carlton County Sheriff’s Office and the Cloquet Police Department executed two search warrants in the Piedmont Heights and Duluth Heights neighborhoods
Authorities arrested Victor Lonzell Wallace, 29, of Des Plaines, Ill., at a Duluth Heights hotel; he was charged with first-degree sale of a controlled substance. Police said they seized 35 grams of heroin and money believed to be drug proceeds, among other evidence.
Later, authorities arrested Amber Kathleen Weir, 37, of Duluth in the 2200 block of Catskill Street in Piedmont Heights. She was charged with first-degree sale of heroin and child endangerment; police said additional drug trafficking evidence and money was seized during that search.
Earlier this month, the Lake Superior Drug and Violent Crime Task Force arrested two men for allegedly selling heroin in separate cases at a downtown Duluth hotel and a Central Hillside apartment.
