Shirley Mae Lycander Rogers, 85, of Manistee, Mich., formerly of Mahtowa, passed away Feb. 17, 2014 in Manistee.
She was born April 10, 1928 in Cloquet, the daughter of the late Oscar and Ida (Youngren) Lycander.
She graduated from Barnum High School and Duluth Business College. She and her first husband, Robert Peterson, moved to Wellston, Mich., from Mahtowa in 1950 and built and operated the Wellston Hardware Store. She was united in marriage to Robert "Bud" Rogers on Nov. 27, 1960 and he preceded her in death in 2010.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Doris Carlson and Betty Peterson and by an infant brother.
Shirley is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Linda Lycander Rogers of Manistee; brother-in-law, Roy Peterson; sisters-in-law, Grace Sciba, Shirley Gutowski, Thelma Gregg, Jane Fortier and Jean (Donald) Cameron and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
SERVICE: 11:30 a.m. Saturday in the First Church of Wellston in Wellston, Mich. Burial will be at the Wellston Cemetery in the spring.
