Delphine M. Anderson, 95, Grand Rapids, formerly of Coleraine, died on Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014 in the Garden Court Chateau, Grand Rapids.
Born Nov. 20, 1918 in Bemidji, Minn., she was the daughter of P. August and Florence M. (Guerard) Boquist.
She grew up in Mizpah and was a Northome high school graduate. Delphine and Melvin “Pelly” Anderson were married on March 19, 1938 in Northome. They lived in Northome, Coleraine, and Glenwood. They settled back in Northome on the Anderson homestead and became sheep farmers for some time.
Delphine had many talents. She was a fabulous cook and quilter. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends, dancing, and fishing. She loved to travel the United States with Pelly and camp. Delphine also enjoyed retirement and traveled to Texas for many years. Dancing, playing cards, and enjoying the warm climate with other snow birds.
She had been a member of the Northome Methodist Church and was a member of the Bethel – Trinity Lutheran Church of Bovey.
Her husband, Melvin; her parents; brothers, Clifford and Richard Boquist; and a sister-in-law, Betty Boquist preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Jim B. (Judy) Anderson of Coleraine; grandchildren, Sherry (Steven) Motzko of Forest Lake, Minn., Debbie (Doug) Sagedahl of Bovey, and Bruce (Mikki) Anderson of Grand Rapids; 11 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; a brother, Melvin Boquist of Northome; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Boquist of Chicago, Ill.; a special nephew, Rohl (Pat) Peterson; and many nieces and nephews from around the United States.
