Doris M. Rodberg, 86, passed away Thursday Feb. 6, 2014 at Diamond Willow assisted living in Proctor, Minn.
Doris was born in 1927 to Abraham and Hilda Peterson, who were both of Swedish descent.
Doris was a "stubborn"' Swede, in the best of ways, and proud of her heritage. She met her future husband, John Rodberg who was also of Swedish descent, when he was staying as a boarder at her parents' home. Together, Doris and John, raised a family of seven children. Doris was a wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Doris was proud of her work at Chun King and General Electric in her early years. Later in life, her passion was being a mother to seven children, homemaker, and babysitting several of her grandchildren.
In her free time she enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, cross-stitch, gardening, puzzles, family vacations and displaying her many collections in her curio cabinets. She also had a knack for crafting idioms/phrases that everyone found humorous.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John F. Rodberg; son, Brett Rodberg; and brother, Ted Peterson.
Doris is survived by six of her children, Margaret (Robert) Hampton, Kathy Tess (Tim Skaggs), Linda Beron, John (Barb) Rodberg, Liane (Paul) Laughlin and Bart (Jeanne) Rodberg; 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; sister Shirley Overfors and brothers Larry Peterson and Richard Peterson.
The family thanks Diamond Willow and River Hill assisted living for the wonderful care that Doris received in her last years.
She will be forever loved and remembered by her family and friends.
