Michael Everett Schultz, 63, of Duluth, passed away in his home Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, surrounded by his daughter, Joyanna Yorde, family, friends and love.
Mike was born July 6, 1950, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Everett and Josephine Schultz. He had a lifelong interest in ham radio, winning many prestigious awards over the years. One of Mike's favorite places in Duluth was Sacred Heart Music Center. He spent countless hours volunteering his time on many projects throughout the building, including rewiring and restoring all of the original chandeliers. He was fascinated with learning about Sacred Heart's pipe organ, and he especially loved to play the organ late at night.
Mike was a master electrician and an electrical engineer, spending many hours with friends putting his expertise to use. He was admired with the ways he could figure out, well, anything.
Mike always enjoyed and supported Duluth's incredible music scene and made many friends in that community. "Schultzy" will never be forgotten but will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ev Schultz, and his sister, Paula Bergren.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Joyanna (Blake) Yorde; mother Jo (Ev) Schultz; and sisters Jeanne (Joe) Bonsall, Sue (Charles) Spencer and Wendy (Mike) Nelson.
Please join us for Mike's celebration of life: 3-6 p.m. with a 4 p.m. remembrance Sunday, Feb. 16, in Sacred Heart Music Center. There will be music, refreshments and mingling.
Memorials may be sent to Sacred Heart Music Center, 201 W. Fourth St., Duluth, MN 55806.
