Richard E. "Dick" Puhl, 86, of Moose Lake, formerly of Duluth, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Moose Lake.
Richard was born on Jan. 22, 1928 to Richard and Iris (Johnson) Puhl.
He graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1946 and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. After returning to Duluth, Dick worked as a steamfitter at U.S. Steel. On Aug. 28, 1948 Dick married Patricia Dunsmoor. After working for 33 years at U.S. Steel, Dick went to work for 3M in Cottage Grove. He retired to Moose Lake after serving 10 years.
After Patricia passed away in 1994 Dick married Jean Robillard in 1996. Dick enjoyed fishing at his house on Sand Lake and deer hunting near Holyoke. He was an avid Twins and Vikings fan no matter how the season went.
He was preceded in death by his first wife and his parents.
Dick is survived by his wife Jean; daughter, Cheryl (Jerry) Blazevic; two sons, Rick (Wendy Lundquist) Puhl and Jeff (Wendy) Puhl; three grandsons, Ryan (Julie), Reed (Mistica) and Rory (Kate) Blazevic; three great-granddaughters, Abby, Alyssa and Isadora Blazevic and five step-children.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Mercy/Augustana, especially Jill and Leslie, as well as River Hill Assisted Living for all of the care they provided.
VISITATION: 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014 in Asbury United Methodist Church 6822 Grand Ave. Duluth. A private family interment will be held at Oneota Cemetery. Military Honors will be accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred. First Memorial Funeral Chapel 218-624-5050
