Charles “Chad” Trudelle Braafladt, 53, of Duluth, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, in Solvay Hospice House surrounded by family and friends after a battle with brain cancer that he faced with dignity and grace.
Chad was born Jan. 14, 1961, in Duluth, to Carl and Mary Ellen Braafladt. He was a graduate of Duluth East and St. Scholastica in 1985 with a degree in computer information systems. Chad worked for Zenith Management for several years before starting CP Internet, now known as CP Telecom, and the Superior Treatment Center.
Chad was a member of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary and served on the board of Marshall School and the College of St. Scholastica.
Chad loved fishing and boating on Lake Superior. Chad’s greatest love was for his children.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ellen.
Chad is survived by his wife, Mary; children Katarina, Alexander, Signe, Luke and Lily; his father, Carl; and siblings Louis (Anita), Keith (Debra) and Laura (Steve Bell) Braafladt.
VISITATION: 5 p.m. with a Wake Prayer and continuing until 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, in Dougherty Funeral Home and noon until the 1 p.m. Mass of Christian burial Saturday, Feb. 1, Cathedral of Our Lady of the Rosary, 2801 E. Fourth St., Duluth. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
