Regina D. "Reggie" Johnson of the Twin Cities formerly of McGregor died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society Care Center in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota.
Reggie was born Jan. 26, 1924 on a farm in rural Gays Mills, Wis., to Donald and Mary (Craig) McFarland.
She was a graduate of Soldiers Grove High School in 1941 and later moved to Milwaukee, Wis., and attended art school and worked at various jobs. She married Warren Johnson on July 14, 1956 in Milwaukee and then resided in McGregor. During her years in McGregor she worked for a time as a Postal Clerk for the McGregor Post Office and also ran the Rainbow Cabin and Trailer Court in McGregor with her husband. Reggie also reported the McGregor News for the Aitkin Independent Age and later for the McGregor Pilot Review prior to her move to the Twin Cities.
She was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in McGregor and served on the Parish Altar Society as well as the Church Council. In addition she was a past member of the Larson-Deneen VFW Post 2747 Ladies Auxiliary and past chairwoman of the Aitkin County Republican Party.
She was preceded in death by her husband Warren in 1987; father Donald in 1962; mother Mary in 1988, Sister Rita and four brothers Beuford (Bud), William, John and Leo McFarland.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Nevin (Marcella) of Bloomington, Minn., Timothy (Debra) of Cook, Minn., Theodore (Karen) of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; grandchildren, Jacob, Kendra, Bailey, Nicholas, Bernie Mae, and Isabella Rose; one brother, Donald McFarland of Sun City, Ariz.; two sisters, Eileen (William) Pickrum of Tinley Park, Il.; and Joyce (John) Luster of Prairie Du Chien, Wis.
MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: 11 a.m. Saturday Jan. 25, 2014 with prayers and eulogies at 10:45 a.m. from Holy Family Catholic Church in McGregor. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m..
