Dale “Snuff” Nordin, 84, longtime LaPrairie resident, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014 in his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born April 6, 1929 in Duluth, he was the son of Theodore and Daisy Nordin.
Dale grew up in Hollywood Location and was a 1947 graduate of Greenway High School. Dale and his wife, Dorothy, of 63 years, were united in marriage on Aug. 12, 1950 in the Community Presbyterian Church of Coleraine. He had worked in the Cleveland Cliffs Mines for 15 years, and then became the owner of Dales Bar from Sept. 1, 1963 to present.
Dale and Dorothy resided in LaPrairie, Minn., for 32 years, and were previously residents of Bovey and Coleraine. Friends and family were always entertained with Dale’s quick wit and many stories.
Dale was a past member of the Bovey Moose Club and the Grand Rapids Eagles; he was also a member of St. Vasilje of Ostrog Serbian Church in Chisholm.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Theodore “Dewey” Nordin.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy Nordin of 63 years; son, Terry (Merilyn) Nordin; daughters, Melinda (Galen) Jasper and Jodie (Dave) Zilbert, all of Grand Rapids. Dale was the proud grandfather of five grandchildren, Jennifer (Bob) English, Nathan (AnnMarie) Jasper, Leah Jasper, Joel and Heath Cady, and one great-grandchild, Lexi Miller. A sister, Carol (Dale) Yelle of Grand Rapids, and a sister-in-law, Ramona Nordin of Granbury, Texas.
