A fire at the Wendy’s in Miller Hill this morning caused more than $60,000 in damage and has temporarily closed the restaurant.
A manager discovered smoke in the entry way of the restaurant at 1720 Miller Trunk Highway when she arrived in the morning. She quickly vacated the building and called 911 shortly before 7 a.m., according to the Duluth Fire Department.
According to a news release, crews found fire coming from the drive-through area that extended to the ceiling of the one-story, fast-food restaurant. They were able to quickly extinguish the fire, remaining at the scene for more than an hour. About 20 firefighters from downtown, Miller Hill and West Duluth stations responded.
The restaurant remains closed during the investigation.
