Leonard W. Peters Jr., 87, of Esko, passed away on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013, in Essentia Hospital.
Leonard was born in Duluth on July 15, 1926 to Leonard and Irene (Wellington) Peters Sr.
He graduated from Esko High School in 1945 and enlisted in the US Army. He served his country during World War and was stationed in the Philippines and Japan. After returning to the Duluth area he married Dorothy Elizabeth Eames and worked for US Steel for over 30 years. Leonard enjoyed spending time with his family and friends at the cabin he built on Comstock Lake. He also enjoyed wood working and collecting tools. Later on Leonard and his wife sold their home and joined the Holiday Ramblers before regularly wintering in Kerrville, Texas.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister Mary and grandson Nowal Wiken.
Leonard is survived by his wife Dorothy; children, Valerie (Jordi) Aloma of Houston, Texas, Paula Peters of Bemidji, Minn., Tracy (Lori) Peters of Duluth, Minn., Randy (Tammy Wiken) Peters of Duluth, Minn. and Marshall (Karyn) Peters of Ogilvie, Minn.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
