News Tribune, Dec. 12, 1973 Contracts totaling $1,689,336 to renovate old Central High School for use as an administrative headquarters were approved last night by the Duluth School Board. Renovations include replacing wood floors with concrete and installing new wiring and new heating and ventilation systems. Duluth residents are making a serious effort to conserve natural gas during the energy crisis, according to Sen. Ralph Doty. Doty said yesterday Duluthians have reduced their consumption of natural gas at a higher percentage than both Twin Cities and Rochester residents.
News Tribune, Dec. 12, 1993 A joint committee of staff members from the Duluth Clinic and St. Mary’s Medical Center have been meeting monthly to discuss the possible merger of the two organizations. The facilities already share some services and programs. Duluth East sophomore Kara Wheeler finished ninth yesterday in the 15th Foot Locker High School Cross-Country Championships girls race in San Diego. Wheeler was competing in her first national prep final and only her second cross-country race of 5,000 meters.
