Drivers could buy regular unleaded self-service gasoline as low as $2.97 per gallon in Duluth this morning. That’s less than the statewide Minnesota average of $2.98 and more than a quarter per gallon below the U.S. average of $3.23.
Minnesotagasprices.com reported that gas prices ranged from $2.79 to $3.15 across the state this morning.
Gas prices in Minnesota have been edging down, for the most part, since May after refineries in the state returned to full production. Continued ample supply of crude oil, stable or falling crude-oil prices and continued declining demand for gas by drivers traveling fewer miles have contributed to lower gas prices, experts say.
Gas prices have been this low in Minnesota twice in the past three years — December 2010 and January.
