Greg Hubick, a defenseman with Minnesota Duluth’s hockey team during the early 1970s, died of cancer Dec. 4 at the age of 62.
Hubick, a Strasbourg, Saskatchewan native, collected 43 points in 66 games during his two seasons at UMD (1970-72). He went on to play professionally for 10 years, including a pair of seasons in the NHL (Toronto Maple Leafs in 1975-76 and the Vancouver Canucks in 1979-80).
Hubick is survived by his wife Marilyn; sons Scott (Sherri), Chris (Jenna), Chad (Trina); father Ted; brothers Elden, Garland (Sharon), Garnet (Denise); and sister Wanda (Greg).
