Beverly Rae Wetzel, 68, of Andover, Minn., formerly of Cloquet, died Wednesday, Nov. 27, 2013, after a brief battle with cancer. Bev died in her home with her loving family by her side.
Bev was born Aug. 22, 1945, in Duluth, to Elsie and Peter Lushenko. She graduated from Albrook High School and married her high school sweetheart, Allan Wetzel, in 1963. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.
Bev and Allan resided in Cloquet until 2001 and during that time she proudly served on the Cloquet Park Board, Cloquet City Council and Member's Cooperative Credit Union Board where she served as their first female chairperson. Bev worked as a real estate agent for Century 21, receiving the rookie-of-the-year award, Roger Maki Realty and was a directors' assistant at Atkins-Northland Funeral Home.
She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and served on various committees throughout the years. Bev was a loving, kind, caring and generous person.
Bev enjoyed antiquing, decorating, shopping, cooking, doing crossword puzzles, watching the MN Twins, entertaining family and friends, and taking road trips with Al.She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers Peter and William Lushenko; and her nephew, Jason Greer.
Bev is survived, and will be sadly missed, by her husband, Allan; son Chad (Aimee) of Anoka; daughters Shelley (John) Robideaux of Cloquet, Stacey Wetzel of St. Louis Park, Minn., and Shawna (Kelly Miller) Wetzel of Ramsey, Minn.; grandchildren Tanner and Lexi Robideaux; and sisters Judy (Jack) Warren of Moundsview, Minn., and Cindy (Squirrel) Foucault of Brookston.
VISITATION: 5-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2, and 10 until the 11 a.m. memorial service Tuesday, Dec. 3, all in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Cloquet. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow in the church social hall.
