Eh? loves reading — a helpful interest in this line of work — and also has an affinity for helping the community. It’s what makes a newspaper more than just ink on pulped trees, or ones and zeroes streaming through wires.
So, it should be no surprise, that when Eh? learned of the Duluth Public Library’s “Libations at the Library” fundraiser, it naturally piqued Eh?’s interest.
The lights will be dimmed at the library’s main branch, 520 W. Superior St., and candles will light the way upstairs where hors d’oeuvres, champagne and sparkling cider will be served from 6:30-8 p.m. Dec. 3. Guests will be surrounded by good books and great company while socializing or bidding in the silent auction. A string quartet from East High School will provide the music, with the food coming from Valentini’s Vicino Lago. But don’t feel pressured to bust out a monocle, top hat, gloves or pearls, said Patra Sevastiades of the Duluth Library Foundation.
“Duluth is a relatively informal place,” she said. There will be no dress code. “All along the way, there is a welcome, a greeting. It’s book lovers.”
The event is free, but donations are welcome. The foundation is asking guests to RSVP at (218) 730-4262 or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Duluth Library Foundation works to fulfill an endowment to supplement funding for the Duluth Public Library.
