Avoid sharing hats, scarves, coats, sports uniforms, ribbons and barrettes.
Don’t share combs, brushes and towels, and disinfect hair tools used by those infected by soaking in hot water for 5-10 minutes.
Don’t lie anywhere an infested person recently has lain.
Machine wash and dry clothing, bedding and anything an infested person wore or used during the two days before treatment using the hot water cycle and the high heat drying cycle. Those not washable can be dry-cleaned or sealed in a plastic bag and stored for two weeks.
Vacuum the floor and furniture, particularly where the infested person has sat or lain.
Do not use fumigant sprays; they aren’t necessary and can be toxic.
