TREVOR, Wis. — A Kenosha County school has closed for the day because of an outbreak of a stomach virus.
WISN-TV reported that Trevor-Wilmot School was shut down Friday so crews could clean all the buildings. The school, in the city of Trevor, is expected to reopen Monday.
Principal Ted Gavlin said the decision was made after 85 of the school's 559 students were sent home or kept home Thursday. Of those, 64 experienced symptoms of stomach virus.
Health officials said they don't believe the illness is food-related.
Gavlin said crews are disinfecting desks and tables, along with door knobs, computer keyboards and other commonly touched areas. The school's bus company is also disinfecting its vehicles.
The school serves students from kindergarten through eighth grade.
