For anyone bored with the usual sports, or simply looking for a new challenge, disc golf is for you. Disc or Frisbee golf has been around for about thirty years and has become more popular every year. There are many people who play regularly in the U.S. and the number continues to increase. The game is played by standing on a cement tee pad and hurling a disc toward a chained basket. It is scored like traditional golf and is usually a par 3. There are many types of discs for specific shots. As in regular golf, they have long distance discs, as well as putters, and specialty discs for curved shots. There are numerous brands and several unique styles. You can buy discs at many sporting goods stores including Air Traffic in the Mall of America. You can usually find discs for about $10 to $20.
One of the best things about Frisbee Golf is that it is convenient. There are over 20 courses in the Twin Cities and most of them are free. You can play at Highland Park, Minnehaha Falls, Garlough Elementary, and there are also courses in Edina, Roseville, Apple Valley, and Eagan. It’s a walk through the park with a purpose.
