James M. "Jim" Andrews, 92, of Silver Bay died peacefully at Diamond Willow nursing facility on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2013.
Jim was born in Paynesville, Minn., on Oct. 2, 1921 to George and Tillie Andrews.
He graduated from Paynesville High School and attended college at St. Cloud Teachers College before entering the Army in 1942. On June 22, 1942 Jim married the love of his life Virginia Lang. Jim and Ginny lived most of their lives together in Silver Bay and raised their five children Jim, Kathy, Sue, Ann and Barb there. Jim worked at Reserve Mining Company hiring most of the employees there until his retirement. Jim was known for his love of hunting, fishing and all outdoor activities. He loved making things and was always trying to find a way to build something better.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Nancy and Jeannie and wife Virginia.
James is survived by his children Jim Andrews of Miami Fla., Kathy Johnson of Duluth, Sue (Cam) Andrews of Fort Lauderdale Fla., Annie (Gil) Chee of Kailua Hawaii, and Barb Andrews of Honolulu Hawaii; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and sister Lorraine Perkins of Apple Valley, Minn.
VISITATION: 2 p.m. until the 3 p.m. memorial service on Saturday Nov. 2, 2013 in Cremation Society of Minnesota Chapel 4100 Grand Ave. Duluth. Military honors will be accorded by the Duluth Honor Guard. Cremation Society of Minnesota 218-624-5200
