Salvatore Peter Ierino, 71, of Duluth, passed away on Oct. 18, 2013 in Heritage Haven after a two year battle with cancer.
Sal was born in Duluth on Jan. 6, 1942.
He attended St. Peter Catholic School and Duluth Central High School. Sal was an active member of the Vintage Times Car Club and was one of the original organizers. He also was a long standing member of the National Street Rod Association. Sal attended the Nationals held yearly in Louisville Kentucky. He was a licensed welder, mechanical engineer and draftsman throughout his working career. Sal worked at the US Steel Plant, Clyde Iron Works and Miller Steel. Privately he designed and manufactured car parts for friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Pauline and Salvatore Ierino.
Sal is survived by his brothers, Rocco J. Ierino and Paul V. (Jeannette) Ierino.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Heritage Haven, Ecumen Lakeshore and Essentia St. Mary’s Hospice for all of the care and support they provided Sal.
VISITATION: 9 a.m. until the 10 a.m. memorial service on Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013 in Cremation Society of Minnesota 4100 Grand Ave. Duluth. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery. Services entrusted to Cremation Society of Minnesota 218-624-5200
