City Council at Large
I am running largely because of a dream I had, a vision, if you will, that challenged me to critically examine the question, “What kind of future are we leaving for our children?”
We need to ensure that that future includes living-wage jobs, an infrastructure that is in good repair, and clean water. Duluth has so much to offer as a city and as a potential destination for tourists drawn to the natural beauty of our area. I want to look for new angles on development in Duluth, to look at what incentives we are offering employers who might locate or expand here and how well those incentives fit the needs of businesses that could bring more year-round, living-wage jobs here.
We need to take steps now to ensure that the next generation of Duluthians does not face the disparities that we currently see in health care, housing, education and other facets of social and economic life. We want to be sure services here are delivered in an equitable manner, and we cannot be competitive in light of changing demographics if we are leaving any of our children behind, educationally or otherwise.
To support generations to come, I believe we need to find ways to reduce barriers to citizen involvement in city affairs, encourage more participation on commissions and at council meetings. Every person has something to offer. If elected I will maintain an open-door policy to all citizens and business people who have concerns or ideas about ways we can make Duluth a better place for all to live and work.
