School Board First District
As someone who was educated in Duluth public schools, I have a sincere appreciation for our teachers and our district. I would not be who I am today had it not been for the education afforded to me by our community. I believe in public education, and I am excited to watch my two children walk through the door of their first kindergarten class at Lester Park and meet their classmates and teacher for the first time.
Public education is all of our responsibility, and we need to make sure that we offer the best. As such, it is important that we hold ourselves and our district accountable for the success of our students. We need to support our schools and bring down our class sizes. Doing so will help our teachers spend time with our students who need the most help, and with that we will see better outcomes.
I have nearly a decade of professional experience working with school boards in Northeast Minnesota. It is my job to understand the role of a school board member. A good board member is a visible and vocal advocate for the community. As your board member I promise to be open and transparent, and I promise to be receptive to your questions and concerns. When I am elected, I look forward to you holding me accountable.
My loyalty to Duluth is second to none.
I chose to stay here after graduating from Duluth East. I chose to stay here and work here after graduating from UMD. I have not had a desire to live anywhere else because I believe that Duluth offers the life-style that builds strong families and a strong community. We can have the best schools in Minnesota, and I look forward to making that a reality. Thank you for your vote.
