Reader’s view: School Board actions argue against referendumsAfter reading the bios of candidates for seats on the Duluth School Board all I see is more of the same garbage.
After reading the bios of candidates for seats on the Duluth School Board all I see is more of the same garbage. Few of them support selling Central High School because of competition. That’s hogwash.
Parents will send their children wherever they choose since open enrollment made that possible, and many already have. Past and new board members would rather dig into the pockets of the public and once again hurt low-income people. Board members are hardly in this category. They claim to work on behalf of children but deny the reuse of an unused building that should only be used as a school, showing discrimination and lack of common sense since its sale also would alleviate district financial problems.
Let us not forget that it was an ISD 709 administrator who also served as an interim superintendent who opened the gates to Edison schools.
When I win the lottery I shall gift Central to a school and in the meantime vote no on every referendum and deep-six every flier that hits my mailbox.
