The fifth annual suicide awareness memorial walk will take place Saturday in Carlton.
Last year, the event attracted 150 people, according to a statement from Carlton County Public Health and Human Services. It begins at 9:30 a.m. at Bethesda Evangelical Lutheran Church, 204 Fifth St., and ends there as well. The noncompetitive walk, which takes about 35 minutes, is not a fundraiser, but participants may wear something with the name and/or picture of the person they are honoring.
The event was organized by members of the Carlton County Suicide Prevention Task Force. The county has one of the state’s highest suicide rates, said Meghann Condit, the county’s health educator.
No preregistration is necessary for the walk.
