August 29 marks the official kickoff of the 28th annual rose sale fund-raiser put on by the Rotary of Duluth Club 25.
Since the rose sale started, more than $1.1 million in grants and scholarships for the Twin Ports community has been generated, according to the Rotary of Duluth Club 25.
“It is an honor to have the ability as a service club to distribute such significant amounts of money to our community,” said Club 25 president Dave McLean.
Some of the rose sale’s previously supported projects include the lighting of the Aerial Lift Bridge, 2012 flood relief and establishing the City of Duluth Azalea Garden. Through the earnings of the rose sale, Club 25 has also supported CHUM, the Damiano Center and Kids Closet, placing a strong emphasis on financial contributions to benefit at-risk children and families.
The cost is $20 per dozen. Rose orders come with a free coupon book for local businesses,
valued at $500. Roses can be ordered online at www.duluthrotary.org, by calling 218-348-ROSE or from a Club 25
