News Tribune, Aug. 16, 1973 Mrs. John C. (Mary) Dwan, Duluth philanthropist whose name is attached to Miller-Dwan Hospital and Medical Center, died yesterday in her residence at 4930 London Road. The Cloquet City Council yesterday signed a joint agreement to join the city of Cloquet and Knife Falls Township, with the effective date of consolidation of July 1, 1974.
News Tribune, Aug. 16, 1993 In a surprise move this weekend, Mike Maxim withdrew from the 1st District Duluth School Board race and threw his support to opponent Philip Storsteen. That leaves Storsteen as the only candidate in what was once a three-way contest. A report by the city of St. Paul finds that among owners of homes and businesses valued at $100,000, those in Duluth pay the highest taxes of any of the nine largest cities in the state.
