August is a good time to make sure your child’s vaccinations are up to date, the Minnesota Department of Health says.
Most Minnesota children will be fully vaccinated, according to the latest numbers from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Its latest data, released Aug. 1, showed that 96.1 percent of all Minnesota children entered kindergarten fully vaccinated in 2012-13. That percentage has been stable since 2005, a health department news release said.
A small percentage of parents don’t approve of vaccinations, and 1.6 percent of students entering kindergarten in 2012-13 were exempt from all vaccines, the news release said. The remaining 2.3 percent were partially vaccinated.
