The Community Action Duluth Stream Corps has taken another step toward helping Duluthians protect their land.
This summer, Duluth Stream Corps has worked with 10 streamside landowners, installed 8 rain barrels and completed 6 rain gardens. Their goal is to install 10 more rain gardens by the end of the summer.
The installation and design by the Duluth Stream Corps crew is free, though they do ask landowners to cover material costs such as the rain barrel or plants for the rain garden.
A rain garden is a landscaped area planted with wildflowers and other native vegetation that promotes infiltration of stormwater runoff from your roof, driveway and lawn into the ground rather than into our streams and, eventually, into Lake Superior.
Contact Duluth Stream Corps at 726-1665 ext 30 or email email@example.com to schedule a site evaluation and see about installation.
