A band that started in Duluth but is quickly becoming known across the Upper Midwest will be a highlight of the music offerings at Spirit Valley Days.
Alternative rock band Lake Avenue, formed in Duluth and based in Minneapolis, is scheduled to play three sets during the annual summer celebration.
The band will play inside Mr. D’s Bar and Grill at 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 31, and Thursday, Aug. 1. They will also be one of many bands to take the stage at the traditional Friday night street dance. The band is set to play at 9 p.m.; tickets for the dance for $10 and attendees must be 21 or older.
Lake Avenue, consisting of Jason Douglas on vocals and guitar, Joe Dunbar on guitar and Cory Bordson on drums, has frequently played Spirit Valley Days and other Duluth gigs in the past.
The band can currently be heard on radio stations in Duluth, Minneapolis and Sioux Falls, as well as in Europe and Internet radio stations. They frequently perform throughout Minnesota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Iowa.
A post on the band’s Facebook page describes Spirit Valley Days as “our favorite weekend of the year.”
