Jim and Carol Sasse
Jim and Carol Sasse of Duluth celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a family dinner.
Jim and the former Carol Seguin-Whitebird were married July 9, 1988, in Forbes Methodist Church in Proctor.
Their children are: Arthur and Elaine Sasse, Debra and Tom Fontaine, Roxanne Helland, Sandy and John Drennan, Cindy and Chris Matheson, Karen and John McKagan, Juanita Whitebird, John and Lesley Whitebird, Renee and Rich Studier, Murray Whitebird and the late Yvonne Whitebird-Quintero. They have 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren (and are expecting their 22nd); and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
Jim retired from AT&T as an installer and from the Duluth Clinic as a courier. Carol retired as a secretary from Duluth Head Start.
Secret to staying married: We were a widow and a widower who met in 1985 during a blind date that was set up by a friend. We had many good years of dancing and dining many times a week. We had love and respect for each other and enjoyed being together. Time and health problems have changed our life, but the love and respect are still there. As the old song says, “Love is lovelier the second time around.”
