News Tribune, July 9, 1993 Rising waters on the St. Louis River threatened to flood homes in Duluth’s Fond du Lac neighborhood yesterday. Although a few homeowners have started sandbagging, city officials say the river is expected to level off in the next few days. Duluth police blocked off a downtown street for more than two hours yesterday and mobilized a tactical unit before learning that the report of two people shot was a hoax.
