Martin Road, a busy route for commuters on Duluth’s northern border, will get makeover this summer.
The St. Louis County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday gave final approval to a $4 million resurfacing project for Martin Road from Rice Lake Road east to Jean Duluth Road.
Northland Constructors of Duluth won the bid for the project which is expected to start July 15 and finish about Oct. 4. The
St. Louis County Public Works Department is overseeing the project that could cause some traffic delays at times.
Hibbing, county assessors merge
The County Board on Tuesday gave final approval to the agreement with the city of Hibbing to take over property assessing duties within the city.
Hibbing joins Duluth and several smaller cities and townships in the county assessing effort, as recommended by a blue-ribbon panel of experts last year.
Bond sale approved
The board approved selling $24 million in bonds to pay for construction projects, namely the $22 million renovation of the downtown Duluth Government Services Center. That work is expected to begin later this year.
