Clifford Michael Hartung, 40, of Duluth, passed away with family by his side on June 19, 2013, in Bethesda Hospital in St. Paul, Minn., following a courageous two-year battle with leukemia.
Clif was born June 15, 1973, in Milwaukee, Wis. He loved going to Milwaukee Brewers games since childhood as well as rooting for the Chicago Bears. He was passionate about playing sports, camping, fishing, hiking, cooking, and hosting barbecues. Clif was always the life of the party.
Clif served in the Army National Guard from 1994 to 2000 and was a dedicated worker at Air Wisconsin Airlines from 1999 to 2012. He married Karen Aldridge, of Proctor, Aug. 23, 2008, in Milwaukee. On April 9, 2011, they had their son, Griffin Thomas. Clif was an adoring father and a loving husband.
Clif is survived by his wife, Karen; son Griffin; mother Diann (Rich) Scharp; father William (Rebecca) Hartung; sister Cheryl Estrada; brothers Allan Hartung and Kevin Hartung; and many special nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, in-laws and friends.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Bethesda Hospital, the University of Minnesota Medical Center, and St. Mary's Medical Center, all of whom were incredible allies in Clif's fight.
In lieu of flowers, the family will accept donations to fund Griffin's future education.
