Myrtle M. Beardsley, 82, of Proctor and Duluth, passed away Friday, May 17, 2013, in St. Luke’s hospital, after a brief illness, with her family at her side.
Myrtle was born Dec. 22, 1930 in Bear Lake, Rusk County, Wis., to Wendall “Hap” and Flossie Gillett. On July 3, 1959, Myrtle married Carol Beardsley in Nashua, Iowa, at “The Little Brown Church in the Vale.” They moved to Duluth in 1966 from Rice Lake, Wis. Myrtle was active as a Den Mother with the Boy Scouts and as an advisor with the Junior Auxiliary of the American Legion.
She was a former member of Forbes Methodist Church in Proctor and was also a member of the Proctor and West Duluth Legion Auxiliaries.
Myrtle enjoyed polka music, especially Florian Chmielewski and Loren Lindevig. She previously worked for Chung King and Jeno’s.
Myrtle was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carol; grandson-in-law Mitch Lingren; brothers Duane, Clifford, Lawrence and Norman; and her sister, Edith Francois.
Myrtle is survived by her children, David Beardsley, Marsha Beardsley and Rhonda (Tim) Peleski; grandchildren Angie Lingren, Brian Beardsley and Erin (Nate Johnson) Peleski; great-grandchildren Jordan and Lilly Lingren; sisters Lois Bilodeau and Doris Gouker; and many more family and friends.
A GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 2 until the 3 p.m. memorial service Tuesday, May 21, at Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave.
