Jeanette Irene Makynen, 74, of Blaine. Died peacefully at her home on May 4, 2013.
Born April 4, 1939 in Franklin Location (Virginia), Minn.
She graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1957 and Macalaster College in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education. Jeanette taught Fourth and Fifth Grades for 34 years in the Mounds View School District at Lake Johanna and Sunnyside Elementary schools.
She was an active member of Alpha Delta Kappa and held local and state offices. Jeanette enjoyed singing from an early age and remained active to the end in the Senior Choir and Gospel Singers. She lived her faith joyfully.
Preceded by husband Arlo (Swede) Cummins, and by parents Johanna (Gentilini) and Isaac Makynen.
She is survived by two brothers Howard Makynen and Allen (Elizabeth) Makynen; nephews Howard Makynen Jr., Joseph Makynen and Sean Makynen; nieces, Dawn Bass, Erin Stein and Kelly Stein; stepsons Raymond (Sherry) Cummins and Gene Cummins and many other relatives and dear friends.
MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, in Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 8211 Red Oak Drive, Mounds View, Minn., with visitation one hour prior. Inurnment at Greenwood Cemetery, Virginia, Minn., Friday, June 28, at 11 a.m. with luncheon following in Gethsemane Lutheran Church.
