Margaret Josephine Skendziel, 85, of Eveleth, died Saturday, April 20, 2013, in Essentia Health-Virginia.
Margaret was born Nov. 7, 1927, in Duluth, to Margaret and Peter Smith. She was raised in Duluth and graduated from Central High School. Margaret was united in marriage to Walter R. Skendziel Aug. 9, 1947. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and a loyal friend to all who knew her.
Her pain has ended and she has joined the love of her life, Walter, in heaven.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 61 years, Walter; sisters Mary Morris and Nell Peterson; brothers James and Everett Smith; and infant grandson Michael J. Skendziel.
Margaret is survived by her daughter, Judy Woida, of Eveleth; son Michael (Patti) of League City, Texas; grandchildren Sean (Miyuki) Hamlin of Osaka, Japan, Megan Harrison of Decatur, Ga., USAF Lt. Col. Patrich (Tara) Skendziel of Tampa, Fla., and Sgt. Christopher (Kristin) Skendziel of League City, Texas; great-grandchildren Lisa, Casey and Aiden Hamlin, Jaden and Gabriel Harrison, and Hannah, Kelsey, Baila and Addyson Skendziel; several nieces and nephews; and many loving friends. She will be missed by all.
Per Margaret's request, there will be no funeral.
A private family memorial will be held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.
