Cloquet native Grant Anderson has been named to head one of the five departments within the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy, the school announced.
Anderson became head for Pharmacy Practice and Pharmaceutical Sciences, which is based in Duluth, on Monday. The college is located in the Twin Cities and Duluth.
Anderson joined the College of Pharmacy faculty in 2003 and was instrumental in building the doctorate in pharmacy program on the Duluth campus, the school said in a news release.
As a researcher, Anderson focuses on brain development and function, including study of the impact of thyroid hormone and iron deficiency on brain development, the treatment of depression and the transport of hormones and drugs across the blood-brain barrier, the news release said.
He received his bachelor of science and doctorate in microbiology degrees from the University of Minnesota.
