Marjorie Gladys Giving died on Monday, March 11, 2013 in Grand Rapids, Minn surrounded by her loving family.
Marge was the tenth of eleven children born at home to Ben and Lettie Kemmer, in Pennington, Minn. She was a young woman working as a nurse’s aide when she found her one true love, Ken (Skeeter) Giving, and they married on Dec. 20, 1941 in Walker, Minn. In 1952 they made their way to the Iron Range, and lived first in Marble, then settling in Taconite for the remainder of their 50+ years together. She was a member of American Legion Post #301 Auxiliary in Taconite, and truly enjoyed working bingo nights with the girls. She also enjoyed bowling, playing cards, and going to area bingo halls with her beloved family and friends. She was known to tell an occasional joke or funny story, but Marge was most famous for her vivacious yodeling and harmonica playing. She still enjoyed a cold beer now and then in her golden years. She had lived at Edgewood Care in Bovey for the past six years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, and ten of her siblings, and one grandson, Robert Cogswell.
She is survived by her loving children, Jeanette (Ronald) Troumbly, Taconite; Dianna (Lloyd) Cogswell, Taconite; Ronald (Jane) Giving, Pengilly; and Dennis Giving and Terry Giving, both of Taconite. She is also survived by seventeen grandchildren who loved her funny ways, forty-eight beautiful great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren. We will continue to tell her stories, and remember her with laughter and love in our hearts.
