Health Notes: ‘Spa-like’ transitional care

As their name suggests, transitional care centers provide short-time care as patients make the transition between hospital care and their homes. A news release from Duluth-based Benedictine Health System and Twin Cities-based Allina Health and Presbyterian Homes & Services said they will seek to provide a “next-generation” level of care.
Two of the centers are in the planning stages. One, managed by Benedictine Health System, will be on the campus of Unity Hospital in Fridley, Minn. The other, managed by Presbyterian Homes & Services, will be on the campus of Abbott Northwestern Westhealth in Minneapolis.
Health fair at St. Ann’s
St. Ann’s Residence, an assisted- and independent-living community in Duluth, will host a heart health fair on Saturday.
It’s part of St. Ann’s celebration of its 50th anniversary, a news release explained.
The event will focus on heart-healthy living information as well as nutritional education specifically for seniors. It will be at St. Ann’s, 330 E. Third St., from 1 to 4 p.m. Free parking will be available in the Essentia Health-St. Mary’s Medical Center Fourth Street ramp.
