ESTHER ANN BARTEN GREEN

Esther Ann Barten Green, 67, of Cohasset, Minn., passed away at home unexpectedly on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013.

Esther was born Jan. 21, 1946 to Henry and Leona Barten of Cohasset.

She attended school in Cohasset and Grand Rapids. Esther was united in marriage to Raymond K. Green on Feb. 22, 1975. They spent their early married years living in Cohasset, and later moved to Remer, Minn., where they lived until Raymond’s death in 1998. Esther then returned to Cohasset to reside. She worked many years at area nursing homes, retiring in 2006. Esther’s life was her family. Her best friends were her siblings. She dedicated her life to help take care of her granddaughters.

Esther was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Leona Barten; her husband, Raymond K. Green; her brother, Leroy Barten; and her grandson, August “Gus” Henry Barten.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Julie) Barten, Sr., their children, Michael, Jr. (Stephanie) of Little Falls, Minn., and John Robert Wadena of McGregor, Minn.; and her daughter, Michelle (Raymond) Bentley, their children, Amber and Raeann Green of Cohasset, Minn.; sisters, Lucille Held of Little Falls, Minn., Frances Barten and Leona Mae Barten, both of Cohasset, Minn.

VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, in the Rowe Funeral Home in Grand Rapids, Minn., and will continue on Thursday, Feb. 14, in St. Augustine’s Catholic Church in Cohasset from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Rev. Fr. Drew Braun will officiate. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery in Remer, Minn., on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 11 a.m.
