LUCAS ERNEST FLOYD

Lucas Ernest Floyd, 33, formerly of Ely, passed away on Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, in San Francisco, Calif.

Luke was born May 2, 1979, the son of Theodore (Marcia Mahoney) Floyd and Linda Johnson.

He grew up in Ely and graduated from Ely Memorial High School in 1997. Four years later he earned his B.S. degree in Biological and Life Sciences. From 2001 to 2003 Luke continued his education at Georgia State University, earning his M.S. degree in Exercise Physiology and Life Sciences.

Luke had a promising career as a sales representative for medical devices, including nerve monitoring and electromyography systems, spine implants and other instruments to orthopedic and neurosurgeons. In addition to being a medical device sales representative, Luke was certified in Advance Cardiac Life Support, and was an exercise physiologist for rehabilitating cardiac patients. Finally, he trained physicians in the use of medical devices as well as operating them himself during surgeries. Among the companies he worked for were Neurometrix, Spine Dynamics and GE Healthcare.

Luke is survived by his loving parents; his grandma Jane Johnson; aunts, uncles and numerous cousins. He was very well liked and had many very good friends.

PRIVATE GRAVESIDE SERVICES: will be held in the spring. Family arrangements have been entrusted to Kerntz Funeral Home of Ely.
