Dozens of downtown Duluth workers get a midday winter workout by walking the skywalk during their lunch hours. Today, many will be doing the same thing with a specific cause in mind.

Udac’s sixth annual Walk a Mile in Our Shoes walkathon is 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at Udac’s STEPS Fitness Center, 500 E. 10th St. Participants either can walk a mile on treadmills or exercise on other equipment.

But there’s another option: a one-mile course walk through the skywalk system between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. starting at the Holiday Center. A pledge of at least $10 scores you a T-shirt.

Money raised benefits STEPS Fitness Center, which provides an exercise environment for people with disabilities and those who are aging or can’t easily work out in a traditional fitness center.
