ROSEMARIE “ROE” LANCOUR

Rosemarie “Roe” Lancour, 58, of Superior, passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, in her home surrounded by her family.

Roe was born Jan. 2, 1955, in Philadelphia, the youngest daughter of Marie and William Meyer.

Roe was known for being an opinionated and driven person and as an active parent, often volunteering in her children's school in addition to being a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, t-ball and baseball coach.

After spending many years as a park ranger at Amnicon Falls State Park, she went back to school and earned a second bachelor’s degree along with her Masters of Special Education and embarked on her second career as a special education teacher, teaching challenging students to realize their potential in life.

As a special education teacher at Superior Senior High School, Roe was instrumental in developing a school based program where “at-risk” students received their education in an alternative setting. She spent countless hours working evenings and weekends in order to ensure that her students got the education necessary to move forward in life.

Roe was proud to have influenced several generations of young people and will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Marie Meyer; and sisters Irene Fitzik and Maria Lecompte.

Roe is survived by her fiancée, Leroy Lahr, of Superior; son Scott Lancour of Superior; daughter Jennifer Lancour and grandson William Anderson, both of Minneapolis; sister Donna (Alfred) Grieshaber Dover of Delaware; and brother Bill (Marty) Wildwood of New Jersey.

GATHERING OF FAMILY AND FRIENDS: 1:30 until 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, in the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 4100 Grand Ave., (218) 624-5200.
