The demand for free radon test kits in Duluth was greater than expected, reports the American Lung Association Duluth office.
Over time, the presence of radon — which is invisible and odorless — in a home can cause lung cancer. That’s why the lung association encourages testing for any home that hasn’t been tested within the past five years. Area residents got the message when the availability of test kits was announced last week, leading to some shortages, the lung association said. But a new shipment came in and supplies should be adequate now.
The kits are available at 1Roof, Central Hillside Community Center, 12 E. Fourth St.; Ecolibrium3, 2304 W. Superior St.; American Red Cross, 2524 Maple Grove Road; Marshall Hardware, 4415 E. Superior St.; Caring Ways Cancer Resource Center at Essentia Health Duluth Clinic, 502 E. Second St.; American Lung Association, Room 202, Ordean Building, 424 W. Superior St.
Presentations and delivery of tests kits are available for groups of 10 or more. For more information, call the lung association Duluth office at (218) 726-4721.
