Health Notes: You know how old you are, but does your heart know?

Your heart might be older than the rest of you.

Your heart might be older than the rest of you.

So says an Essentia Health news release announcing an online tool to help you determine your heart’s “biological age.” It also helps you take a look at your personal risk factors for cardiovascular disease.

The free survey at www.essentiahealth.org/heartrisk walks you through simple questions about your age, weight, exercise habits and stress levels. It also asks about your blood pressure and cholesterol numbers. It takes a few minutes, the news release says.

The assessment is based on the Framingham Heart Study, which began in 1948 and continues today, the news release said.

If the survey results show that your risk for heart disease is high, you should discuss the results with your doctor, said Dr. Wilson Ginete, an Essentia Health oncologist.
